Report: Jesse Jackson Jr. writing a memoir

Former Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.), who pleaded guilty last week to misusing more than $750,000 in campaign funds and faces up to five years in prison, is writing a memoir to “clear up his legacy,” according to the Chicago Tribune.

“He has nothing else to do right now,” a source told the Tribune. “He is desperately trying to change the narrative of his life story.”

Jackson will be sentenced on June 28, according to the Tribune, after spending campaign money on personal items like a Rolex watch, two stuffed elk heads, and Micheal Jackson’s fedora. Jackson’s wife, Sandi Jackson, also pleaded guilty to separate charges of filing false tax returns.

Jackson took a medical leave from Congress in the summer of 2012 for treatment for bipolar disorder, and resigned in November.
