He is known for paintings of women, such as La Ghirlandata and Beata Beatrix, as well as some religious paintings like Girlhood of Mary and Ecce Ancilla Domini. However, the reverence of these religious paintings is questionable - they depict Mary as a gloomy teenage girl.
